Keith Christie
Sculptor, Painter, 20th century
Born 1940 Lives in Browns Valley CA
Specializes in Subject matter of the
American Frontier,
Cowboys, Figures, Human Activity,
Animals, Especially
Bronzes
of Horses and Equine Activities.
Professional artist since 1972.
Winning a California state wide Gold Key Award at the
age
of 15 helped him convince his parents to enroll him in the
"Famous Artists School" of Greenwich, CT. This early
training
encouraged his obsession for Western Art as well as his
desire
to become a professional artist. Leaving College, Christie
vowed
never to paint again if he had to accept the "modern art"
being
taught. He joined the Marine Corps for three years,
married and
returned to finish his BFA and Master of Arts Degrees.
This lead
to a teaching and administrative job in Northern CA.
Gradually
he returned to painting and sculpting again and by 1972 he
had
established himself as a full time, self-supporting
professional artist.
His oil paintings and bronze sculpture can be found in
private and
corporate collections as well as art galleries and museums
worldwide.
Work: Wells Fargo, National Cowboy and National
Heritage Museum,
Oklahoma City, OK and various
private
and public collections worldwide.
